The least congested city in England…

Given its population and central location, you may be surprised to learn that Sheffield is the least congested city in England and No.1 in transport provision terms, and is ideally located and accessible for commuters and visitors.

It is served by regular direct trains, putting London just over two hours away, Manchester only 50 minutes away and Leeds within 40 minutes.

Work is also underway on a connectivity study to support the case for a potential HS2 station within the Riverside Business District. HS2 would cut journey times to London from Sheffield to little more than an hour.

International visitors benefit from Sheffield being within an hour’s drive of five major airports, including Manchester, Doncaster-Sheffield, East Midlands, Leeds-Bradford and Humberside.

£600 million worth of infrastructure improvements have already identified, including an extended airport link road to Doncaster-Sheffield airport.

“Sheffield, as one of the 8 core cities in England, will play a significant role in the success of Britain. 2035 presents a shared, realistic and ambitious vision for the future of Sheffield, as a city that looks after its citizens, is economically competitive and environmentally sustainable.”
